Our Journey

The Neighbours Farm is a regenerative farm located in the heart of Stellenbosch, South Africa. What began in 2019 as a small-scale hobby farm,driven by a passion for growing nutrient-rich, seasonal produce for our family and friends,has grown into a fully operational agricultural and hospitality destination. From day one, we’ve been committed to farming in a way that restores soil health, supports biodiversity, and connects people meaningfully to their food.

As demand grew from chefs and hospitality venues looking for premium, responsibly-grown ingredients, we transitioned into a dedicated farm supplying seasonal produce to some of the region’s top kitchens. In 2023, we secured investment that allowed us to scale our impact and settle permanently on a historic property dating back to 1905. Our farm now lives on part of the original Welmoed estate, one of Stellenbosch’s oldest farms,home to a beautifully preserved gable from the original farmhouse, a symbol of South Africa’s agricultural legacy.

As first-generation farmers, we’ve reimagined the future of local food production through our Futures Farming model, a farm-to-chef system where crops are pre-purchased before they’re planted. This ensures zero waste, transparency, and stronger collaboration between grower and plate.

In 2024, we opened The Homestead our thoughtfully restored farm stay designed for guests looking to reconnect with nature, food, and a slower, more intentional way of living. Surrounded by working fields, orchards, and native gardens, the Homestead offers luxury accommodation rooted in authenticity and comfort. Whether you’re here for a weekend escape, a culinary retreat, or to experience life on a regenerative farm, it’s a place to rest, reconnect, and breathe deeply.
